Clarence-Rockland is a bustling city whose development potential is very promising. As the new Mayor of the City of Clarence-Rockland, I want to develop a synergy with the Counsellors and work with management towards the accomplishment of our residential, industrial, tourism and most of all our social development. Employees and elected officials that make up the administration must collaboratively develop strategies to ensure that every tax dollar is maximized in order to improve the citizens’ quality of life. While working towards those achievements, I will share my vision that can be summarized in a few words: every action taken by Municipal Council will be made responsibly, be it in the social, environmental and/ or financial areas. These three basic elements must be met at all times and for all projects. Citizens are entitled to know that all actions taken by elected officials and employees are socially acceptable, that the environment is protected and that the costs meet budget limits. We have presented a budget; it reflects the obligations established in the past and plans for maintenance as well as the capital investments we are proposing for this year. The administration and elected officials have done a great job in order to reach a convincing result. Initially, we chose to commit to establishing a dedicated fund for the reconstruction and maintenance of our infrastructure. We want to maintain this fund for as long as our roads are not improved. The Councillor’s suggestions, as well as the ideas and requests submitted by our citizens, will allow us to design the City’s first strategic plan. This strategic plan will be dynamic and will highlight the priorities in infrastructures and investments intervention.
· Improve the condition of the infrastructures (roads, water and sewer) for the well-being of the citizens, while keeping the taxes at a fair level. · Favour the residential, commercial and industrial development. · Promote the development of the tourism industry while making better use of our resources such as: the Ottawa River, the Larose Forest, the Recreational and Cultural complex, the new arenas, etc.; · Build on the government’s environmental study in order to make the best decisions for our roads and transport system, such as the widening of Highway 17/174, the introduction of a commuter train, increasing the number of buses, etc..; · Create employment by establishing a new industrial park. · Set up a fresh market where the fruit and vegetable producers as well as the citizens can sell their products. · · The City of Clarence-Rockland is rapidly expanding. The City is enriched by its social and environmental resources and its cultural diversification. Our community will welcome you with open arms.
