The Municipal Act, 2001 as amended by Bill 130 requires that municipalities have a process to investigate closed meeting complaints including an officer to undertake the investigation.
Municipal Council approved the option of appointing Ombudsman Ontario to investigate regarding closed meetings. The investigator will remain completely independent and arms length from the City and Municipality Council and will report findings directly to Municipal Council.
